Taxicab Cultural Clash at the Minneapolis-St Pa...
50,40 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

When Steve Wareham heard that there had been another complaint about taxi service at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP), it came as no surprise. As Airport Director, Wareham had been working for years to improve customer service in this important ground transportation arena. Beginning in 2002, Airport Staff became aware that some passengers who were carrying alcohol often visible in the plastic bags from duty-free shops had been refused taxi service. The drivers, many of whom were Muslims from Somalia, explained that their faith did not permit them to consume or transport alcohol. Drivers who refused a fare for any reason were sent to the end of the line, and had to wait two to four hours for another fare. Losing fares represented a significant economic and practical hardship, for the drivers, this was an issue of religious accommodation, and they requested special accomodations that could allow them to refuse customers with alcohol without "losing a fare". How do faith issues relate in the customer service driven taxicab industry?

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Changi Airport MRT Station was opened on February 8, 2002, as one of the terminal Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations for the East West Line, and located in between Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. There are four other stations that have fare gates on the same level as the platform: Expo MRT Station lift concourse, Downtown MRT Station in 2013, Sentosa Station of Sentosa Express on January 15, 2007 and Bishan MRT Station Exit E.Changi Airport had been operating since its opening in 1981 with no rail link and with full reliance on taxi and bus connections, proven effective given the short 20 kilometre distance to the city via the East Coast Parkway and their relative affordability. Public buses also provide cheap express trips to the city, and link commuters to the MRT network at Bedok, Tampines and Pasir Ris. There was thus no pressing need to build the rail line despite regional competition, and was only given the green light when the Singapore Expo was built along the line and helping to add potential traffic.
